What Is Web Design | Part 2
Web design and Strategic Planning
Like any design work, it is a project, and requires an informational analysis, from a briefing. Correctly detect the objective of the project is essential to good planning, so that actions are taken correctly.
It is always necessary to define the target site, the purpose of the site, the services offered, and the benefits to the public. From these and other elements that are specifically relevant to the project, it will help set the site structure (information architecture), the technology and layout.
In general, though usually it seems that the first impression one gets from a site is the visual, the visitor actually search the content, therefore the first step is to define strategic and all information that the site will define clearly the information architecture of the site and finally, the visual design of the site, which does not need to jump, spin and flash, unless what you’re selling is design / image (which does not apply to informational milieu that is Web), but having a professional appearance following at least the basics of how to approach design, contrast, alignment, among others.
There is a striking difference between the conceptual design in traditional media, as in graphic and web design applied. On the web, aesthetics should be tailored to the device accessing the site or disabled if not required in the context of use. In the middle graph is possible to predict how the end user will see the aesthetics of the product, already on the web this is not possible, because the appearance can and must change radically according to the operating system used, personal settings, browsers, screen resolutions and devices such as mobile, TV, printer, screen readers etc.. For this reason, the structure (HTML) to which the information will be exposed should work regardless of stylistic formatting (CSS) and behavior (scripts) that are W3C recommendations.
Structure
The structure, also known as information architecture, the site must include your goals, which makes the user experience more comfortable and easy as possible, we call it usability. You should plan the structure so that the user can easily obtain the information or service you want. Today there are countless ways that a site may acquire and creativity continues to be the big difference in producing web.
Layout
The layout needs to convey the desired information efficiently. It is necessary that the layout is a communication link with the user, that its language is consistent with the objective of the site. Meet Usability heuristics is essential to generate layouts for the web. Each element inserted into a website should have a goal, the perfection of a website is achieved when there is nothing to be removed and not when there is nothing to be inserted.
Most of the old layouts of Web sites were made with tables in HTML, but this way is inappropriate for tables should be used only to display tabular data. However, there are layouts that are completely produced without the presence of tables, are the famous “tableless” and yes this is the best way to structure layouts.
Tableless can not be understood as the free translation, which was literally “no tables”. Tableless is a concept and should be understood as applying the webstandards (web standards developed by the W3C).
Browsers
Programs are responsible for interpreting the contents of a web site, thus providing the interface with which the end user will interact. The browser is for web design as well as the role is for the newspaper. The wide variety of browsers and discrepancy between the resources made its own creators walk toward a common standard. Currently it is essential to create Web sites following the standards of W3C.
In developing the site, the HTML should be created following the W3C standards (Web Standards) so that it is functionally independent of devices (TV, phone, printer, monitor etc.). Although in theory there is no need to test in multiple browsers is a good habit to test in more than one browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Safari, Chrome and others), because the site layout may differ from other certain browsers, and the user navigates not understand what is happening.
Standards
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the body responsible for recommending development standards for the Internet. By these standards can be classified: web sites according to their technical characteristics, going beyond the visual; browsers, according to its ability to meet the standards set.
The ultimate goal of following the W3C standards is possible that the information provided by the site remains independent of the device used by the visitor and are accessible.
Software used
There is a huge range of programs used by Web designers. To build the code, because it is simple text, any text editor can serve to support the creation of the code. However, there are programs both free and commercial use, WYSIWYG interface, which are widely used in the marketplace for both manage sites, just as for editing code, such as Dreamweaver, Aptana, Expression Web, FrontPage (not advisable for generating HTML exclusively for Internet Explorer, and generate code with possible syntax errors) in the visual part, the vector graphics editor Corel Draw, Illustrator or Inkscape), bitmap GIMP, and primarily Fireworks or Photoshop. For dynamic resources and animations, Flash is the most used. Regarding Flash, one should take care to use it only where the solution is impossible to be reproduced in HTML, never use menus and content areas to be a binary file, not accessible and to be at odds with W3C recommendations.
With modernity in relation to increasing advances in computing, many companies need more and more people trained to perform services and treatments in general. People with professional skills are becoming scarcer and harder to find.
The advantages of having a page on the Internet
The internet has become the biggest marketing tool the world, and also the most accessible. All this must be within reach of a large part of the world population brought about by increasing its promotion and dissemination on the planet. The trend now is that increasingly companies, need a second address, the virtual. In order to disseminate its contents to override the ones that your competitor may already have your web page. A virtual address generates publicity and credibility by the Internet user and consumer.
The benefits of having a virtual identity are many. We can point to the fact that the main Internet is the medium that passes the necessary information quickly and objectively, generating a large segment of the business card with no pressure on the client. This is at liberty to decide what to consume, being naturally attracted to the business fields.
Become a more friendly relationship with the consumer, by significantly reducing the needs of inconveniences inherent to other forms of dissemination such as telemarketing, Flyers pollutants that cause and Outdoor matching visual and environmental pollution. Thus, further clarifies that all means mentioned earlier and with more elegance to the correct professional is hired to direct it properly. And the cost of the manpower and raw materials are much smaller, therefore, must rely on numerous professional and / or extremely high cost of printing due to commercial demand. Another advantage is that it takes on other forms of advertising, is that it can be accessed anytime and anywhere you have internet, making it more convenient and offered proposals being considered in more quirkiness and calm.
The World Wide Web Consortium, also called W3C, is an international consortium to create standardization for the World Wide Web. Tim Berners-Lee , the head of W3C, is the original maker of Uniform Resource Locator, Uniform Resource Locator (URL), HyperText Transfer Protocol (also called HTTP), and HyperText Markup Language (also called HTML). These are the very important web technologies widely followed by millions of web designers and which has revolutionized the great world of Internet today.
