The Cloud – Potential for Managed Services

Exclusive payments in the cloud hosting arouses intense interest, as it helps reduce costs by providing service on demand. This phenomenon allows to simplify the information systems, making them more accessible. Since, so far in this area are not accepted the general terms, because in this text is invited to use the turnover of cloud computing. Most likely customers are not sure of the need for new services, and distributors of this service is not quite developed a marketing strategy.

This article describes the terms and concepts of the cloud network. Also in this article outlines the components of the network, which fully correspond to the needs of cloud computing, and may become the basis for the introduction of these components. Several characteristics of the network is important for a successful service use of cloud services.

General Idea of Cloud

In recent years, expanding its range of technology of cloud computing, according to which all the necessary resources required to be delivered to any user on demand, as some phone services. Cloud computing technology enables equitable access to the source, and provide user this approach effectively buy the required amount of services not overspent. Therefore, some experts predict the role of the network so to speak of communal life, comparing it with water, with electric, telephone.

In the early years of 1990′s has propagated the idea of Grid Computing, which represents the allocation of computing and storage resources from a common pool of autonomous systems, as a rule, basic scientific work and demanding scientific applications. Cloud computing – the further evolution of the same basic idea of combining resources to provide access to web-services, applications and storage resources. Recently, the general concept of cloud computing have been providing several categories services.

Cloud Hosting Server can be called as a continuation of the technology of grid hosting, which is widely developed in the 90 years of the twentieth century, representing a resource allocation of an autonomous system, suitable for intensive, fundamental work. Cloud groups the basic resources for a possible penetration into the web-based applications. More recently, from cloud began to allocate certain functions:

1) Use of Information Technology as a Service (ITaaS): Telecoms operator enters into an agreement with companies or individuals to provide access to networks, to be submitted personally or complex. Possible services – network backup, disaster recovery, voice over internet protocol (VoIP), hosting, video surveillance and web-conference.

2) Using the Software as a Service (SaaS): User does not need to install the application on your computer, because he can use the application, using the operator’s network. The user receives the results of the calculations and the application runs on a server company supplying SaaS services, while the user does not need to purchase the application, and pay only for the use over the Internet. Before, representatives of the service were called as Application Service Provider (ASP), and now uses an acronym SaaS.

3) Providing a Platform as a Service (PaaS): Presented to the user computing power and disk space by using the cloud. This approach may find use for developers. It allows them to create web-applications and run them in the structure of Google, but this storage system with high capacity and fault tolerance have to be at their disposal, and also allows for the five millionth viewing web-pages within a month.

4) Use of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): It provides a virtual computing infrastructure as a service. When using this service, the client no longer need to purchase a server, software and network security, there is no need to recruit professionals for the use of those systems, since it is possible to acquire the necessary resources, using this service, access it using the Cloud Services.

High Qualities of Cloud

Growing recognition of the concept of network computing, explained combining technology and economic factors. Cloud Computing catches views of experts, since it is the latest advanced technology, which completely change the business models of telecoms operators. For a number of positive advances the concept of cloud computing to telecoms operators could be considered that:

1) Decrease prices and increase the scalability of computational resources enables powerful base virtual machine, eliminates the need to purchase hardware. Consumers will be able to use virtual machines operating in the cloud network. Along with this, users can run more virtual machines on different hardware on a network operator. Also, the operator will be able to scale the available virtual machines, adding new processors.

2) Services access to which is carried out through the cloud, have a large number of competitive opportunities in comparison with other managed services.

3) Cloud computing creates a platform for the managed services model, which can be presented on niche vertical markets, without excluding the market for smaller companies.

Cloud has a number of interesting opportunities for the customers:

1) Possibility of reducing the costs associated with support for hardware and software components (depending on the type of services provided).

2) Decrease in the total cost of ownership, when payment is made upon receipt of application, allows the client to get to work with the system with small volumes, increasing the amount of resources used as needed. This method makes it possible to prevent large capital expenditures at the initial stage of the project.

3) Quick and easy purchase of new services and accelerate market entry.

Without fear of complex cloud computing client, you must set safety standards, the movement of applications among the cloud platforms, service level agreements (SLA) and find solutions to other problems. Conditional standards allow customers to use them with necessary facilities applications, platforms and resources.

Important Areas of Technology Cloud, in need of Standardization:

1) Software middle-ware or Cloud OS – the main system for management services. Example of such software can be considered as Google App Engine. This software must allow customers to have the request based on copies of the cloud systems, to provide access to resources and manage their life cycle.

2) API for applications that provide access to resources: computing power, storage and management system imaging machines. To ensure that applications running in the cloud network need data interfaces. Nowadays, many suppliers provide their incompatible interfaces, API, do not allow shared use resources of different networks. To this day, most of the network creators simplify its role in the industry by elementary functions of the baseline. Clients also seek a closer plexus infrastructure with the support of the API.

3) Managing resources – the main areas in need of shaping architectures cloud computing. Typically, network resources are offered to clients statically, while in the cloud hosting environment, processing power, storage and applications to provide dynamic, on demand. And network resources should be provided independently, without depending on the application of resources. Cloud computing, where virtual systems are formed on demand, dynamically, in the shortest time, and just as quickly dissolved the administrative barriers pose a serious problem, which acutely inhibits the allocation of resources. Processes or flows of resource management in the cloud computing environment necessary to make automated and independent of administrative boundaries to achieve the greatest accelerating the allocation and freeing resources.

4) Virtualization technology is used in the market for several years, and is rapidly embracing data centers and are used for telecoms operators. But there are a number of virtualization technologies, which can not interact with each other. Since no established common standards, it complicates the creation of accessible environments, combined with other “cloud network” and a vast array of computing and information resources.

Simple Architecture of Cloud Server Hosting consists of the following main streams:

1) A user submits a query to access the service.
2) Finding the necessary resources management system.
3) Finding the necessary resources allocation system.
4) Allocating the necessary resources for the request for a service.
5) The user gets the results.
