How to install GUI on a debian?

First step –

This is to update your machine –

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

Second step –

This is to go on with a GUI installation –

apt-get install gdm gnome x-window-system-core

Third step -

If after a reboot it still doesn’t work, rerun the X (graphical) server configuration utility:

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
