custom requirement
I am needing people with preferably experience in the following fields:
- Thorough experience with Linux AND Windows. MCSE and RHCE are big pluses.
- Server security and management
- Virtuozzo (both Linux Hosting and Windows Hosting) – there’s not too much to this really
- Experience with control panels such as cPanel, Plesk, Directadmin, Helm, etc..
- One person with experience in setting up clusters would be useful, but this is by no means required (would be useful in the future)
I’ll describe what our company will be doing quite soon: we are going to change a lot in our company and basically we are going to offer dedicated servers and VPS Hosting only (and co-location and possibly clustered solutions). We are very likely going to stop offering shared hosting. Dedicated servers and VPS’s operate the same in many ways, so by offering them both we can really focus on one kind of product. We need the techs mostly for server management and technical support, I’ll describe in a bit more detail:
The VPS’s will mostly be used by people who can’t afford a dedicated server (or just don’t need one). We are going to try to convince a lot of people to switch over from their existing reseller Web hosting to VPS Hosting. As you understand, all those people have no experience in server management, so especially in the start those people just need a lot of guidance. That’s obviously very simple, it just takes a lot of time.
The dedicated servers can be used by just about anyone. The customer can choose their management level, and of course with the higher levels of management we need the techs (for server security, performance tweaking, monitoring, problem solving, etc). My current staff is perfectly capable of doing that on the Linux platform (but time is becoming an issue). The problem is mainly Windows. Nobody here has a good amount of knowledge about it, other then the general usage of windows. For this reason it would really help if all the techs also have a thorough knowledge of Windows. Still note: Linux is most important.
I think all this will give you a good insight on what we need, and I hope you can make a good initial selection. It would be great if you could make such a selection and pass on their details to me so I can review them.
