Best Web Hosting
Best Web Hosting
There are many web hosting providers that claim to be the ‘best web hosting company‘, as well as others that claim to be offering ‘the best’ web hosting packages around. However, since there are so many web hosting companies claiming to be ‘the best’ and offering ‘the best’, it can be hard to distinguish which web hosting provider is the best out of the providers that you have looked into. There are no rules governing who ‘the best web hosting provider‘ is, as there isn’t governing what a web hosting provider should be able to supply to be ‘the best’. Like there is with ‘the best web hosting provider’, there aren’t any rules governing what ‘the best web hosting package’ should be able to provide the customer with.
More or less every web host there is supplies basic shared website hosting packages that are normally hosted on a Linux server, and provide a control panel such as cPanel or Plesk to allow customers to manage their web hosting accounts effectively. Above this basic set of web hosting accounts, some web hosts will be selling shared Windows web hosting accounts, which is normally the limit for many web hosts; larger web hosts also provide higher end web hosting products, such as Virtual Private Server and dedicated servers, both of which smaller web hosts are unable to provide because of the costs involved.

To claim to be the ‘best web host around’, a web host should be able to provide customers with a wide range of products that include shared web hosting package, reseller web hosting packages, VPS servers and dedicated servers hosted on both Windows and Linux servers. Besides the sort of products that a web host offers, they also be able to provide their customers with 24×7 support, whether it be via phone, email or web based support system. Without 24×7 support, a large web host wouldn’t be able to manage all customer requests, and would probably fold under the pressure; however, a web host with a 24×7 support team is able to serve customers properly and effeciently.

A basic web hosting package should allow access to control panel so that customers can easily and effectively manage their websites, as well as provide the ability to send and receive emails and display the hosted website publicly. Customers should also be able to have the choice of which operating system their web hosting account is hosted on, since this can have an effect on the ability for their website to function correctly. PHP and MySQL web applications can be hosted on either Windows or Linux hosting accounts, although ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server web applications can be hosted in a Windows environment only, due to the fact that both are Microsoft products.

To be defined as the ‘best web hosting package‘, a host should be able to provide a web hosting package that contains all or some of the following:
- web based statistics program to monitor website visitors
- bandwidth monitor to show bandwidth usage
- disk space monitor to show use of disk space allowance
- Ruby on Rails web hosting
- POP3/IMAP email access
- remote webmail email access
- server and account backups to ensure safety of data.
With all of the above features in one web hosting package, a customer should be able to manage and administrate their web hosting account without the need for any intervention from the support team; it will also allow them and others to access emails, websites and other services that they have hosted under their web hosting account.

In reality, the ‘best web hosting package‘ doesn’t exist, and neither does the ‘best web hosting company‘; at the end of the day, the best this or that is only the best in your eyes, since everyone has different opinions on what makes things ‘the best’. And in an industry so diverse as the web hosting industry is, it would be wrong to be branding web hosts and web hosting packages ‘the best’, since there are so many different webhosting providers these days offering different deals, that there is bound to be one deal that is better than another, however much you look. If you think you have found the best web hosting provider, then in your eyes you probably have, but since everyone has different needs, it may not be the best webhosting provider for someone else.
