Web 2.0 Marketing

Even journalists were taken by surprise by the term “web 2.0″ before using it themselves. They noted that many players were from the Web 2.0 before the marketing of this term. This makes the term a buzzword that is often used improperly.

In summary, in the eyes of scientists, the term “web 2.0″ is at best an umbrella term for a set of further developments in the uses that technology (and therefore more relevant to the sociology of computing). In the worst sense, it is a marketing term with no real content.

The term Web 2.0 has led to the use of rétronymes Web 1.0 and Web 1.5 to describe the methods of the previous site. According to the definitions, an Internet forum is classified as generation 1.5 or 2.0. Now, not only the forums have existed since the beginnings of the web, usenet, but existed before the web.

Many of the ideas of Web 2.0 have been used on web sites long before the term is used. Amazon.com, for example, has enabled its users to write reviews and consumer guides since its inception, and opened its API to third-party developers in 2002. Conversely, if a site proclaims “web 2.0″ because it uses trivial features such as blogs or degraded, it is often more of an attempt to promote an effective use of ideas of Web 2.0 .

Prior Example

Examples stronger than that of Amazon with content generated by users is only peripheral to the site content: The Dmoz directory, launched in 1998, whose entire content is generated by its users. The news agency Indymedia operates open publishing since its inception in 1999.

Distinction

On 25 December 2006, Time Magazine has chosen the Internet as personality of the year 2006. Since 1927 (when the magazine has awarded the title of Personality of the year) is the eighth time that the personality of the year is not an individual recognized by the exceptional editorial team, Time, but a group of people. The American Magazine wanted to pay tribute to the many anonymous Internet users who took control of the information on the web through web 2.0 applications.

These labels are small text expressions that describe a concept, are attached to a concept and used for searching content (examples: a forum, a blog, a directory of blogs) and, more importantly, the interconnect things between them.
