A website is a place on the vast internet which has an identity of its own. It can be either very attractive and well maintained and managed, or it can be a site which seems to have no particular purpose attached to it, has no specific flow of ideas and information present on it, and which causes it to be neglected by the whole virtual world.
Thus, to create an identity of its own, a website needs to become very popular and trustable. It also needs to be well presented and strategically planned so that it can easily attract visitors in considerable amounts. It also needs to make those visitors feel that they have received good information, and products and services (if the site is commercial in nature), and is very safe so that they can confidently return to it at a later time.
Basically such a website offers the right kinds of solutions or information to the majority of its visitors and such a site is said to be succeeded in its fundamental goals.
Such success of a website is chiefly based on the web designing, planning and executions of those plans and designs. The process of web designing – initially as well as continually — is thus a major process in the life-cycle of a website.
Web designing is the process of creating the structural and functional design of a website. A website design is similar to the process of creating the architecture of a house, for example. Every element that is needed to form a website needs to be positioned correctly on a web container called the web page. Those web elements have definite functionality attached and the code needed to make them work are well defined using various web scripts and computer languages.

A web design involves various processes such as planning the site modules, outlining each functionality and coding and testing them; implementing text, graphics, audio visual media, linking other web pages — both internal as well as external, and creating a content which is appropriate to the theme of the website. A website’s creation begins with the strategic analysis and planning of its purpose and goals. It needs to consider aspects such as what products and services it will marketing, how the information and content will be presented on the web pages, and overall, what actions needs to be considered to make the website work efficiently and without any problems. All these elements need to be structured and made modular.
For example, if the product pages need to be connected to the inventory and so a suitable database management system has to be incorporated into the design. The sales will need a suitable merchant account which again involves a shopping cart system and an online secure payment processing system. A sale of an item of service can be of various types: such as a subscription could be periodical in nature and thus a monthly payment would need a specific form of payment process.
On the other hand, a customer would not just purchase a single item but would buy many other items and then he may change his mind would want to remove some of the items he has selected. Such a scenario would need a suitable strategy on part of the web designer so that the customer is able to purchase only those items and quantities he needs.
Thus every such action should be visualized and coded by the web designer and the team of web programmers in advance so that all aspects of such modules are well planned and coded. The flow of every action taken on the website needs to be considered and then strategically planned and coded carefully. This thorough and systematic execution is part of the web designing process.
